Rival Logs
Blowing out the cobwebs - freezing February
8 Feb 2015
Steve and Cathy Lacey
Gingerly moving about the icy decks on Saturday morning (8th Feb 2015), we sailed shortly after sunrise, bound from Poole to Yarmouth. The light airs quickly filled in to become NE 5-6, leaving us grateful for the sprayhood as well as decent foulies, gloves and hats. A well timed reef, prior to the 30 kt gusts ensured the new mast was not unduly stressed...Rewarded for our chilly endeavours by a warm welcome as ever in Yarmouth and a fine passage back, with the asymmetric having its first outing of the season.
Wild Rival approaching Hurst
Variable winds led to some motorsailing to maintain our boat speed and frequent trips to the mast to hoist and lower the headsail, but all very pleasant in the sunshine.
