Weather helm and Mast rake.

Rigging adjustments.
Posted: 14 Aug 2015 - By: Oisin Creagh

New to the Forum, and trawling through this wealth of information and advice!

I am doing some work on my rigging (and the rest of the boat! R32) this winter and want to look closer at the rake of the mast.  It has been a few years since we had her in the water, for various reasons, but I hope to get back again in 2016.

I always felt the mast was raked back a bit too much, with a fair bit of weather helm upwind, in fresher breezes.  I will measure length of forestay and backstay asap, but curious if there is anyone with advice on this?  Is a good bit of weather helm normal in winds over F4?
