lower rudder barring

Posted: 6 Feb 2008 - By: Philip Allwood
the stainless rudder stock was locked up solid with the lower bronze bush / barring. dropping the whole assembly proved to be quite easy but parting the 2 seperate bits proved to be a bit of fun. eventually done in the workshop with some heat. now both parts are cleaned up and free moving again ready to be replaced.
question; the engineer suggests that a rubber or nylon "washer" should be placed into the bottom of the bronze barring for the staft to sit upon. is this the standard way and if so where can i get such a washer from?
