Broken forestays

Posted: 21 Mar 2002 - By: Rivalspirit
I was interested to see the article in Rival roundup about the guy who lost a forestay on a proving trip up North.  We lost ours going across the Atlantic.  We had had the rigging renewed before we left and were surprised that is had parted, just below the swage at the mast.

The rigger who fixed it told us that it was a common occurance on roller furled boats something to do with the articulation in rigging between the anti tangle thingy above the foil and the tang.

Has anyone else had this happen and do they now the answer.  Ours is a R38a.
