Insurance outside of Europe

Posted: 20 Jan 2013 - By: Roger & Audrey Kynaston
In the course of our visit to the London show we talked to our insurers about our plans for cruising and they came back with the less than welcome news that getting insurance for the Caribbean presupposes the value of the boat as being greater than ?50000 and bigger than 34 feet.  The guy at Pantaneius was not forthcoming about what size they do expect - I am guessing 40.

We could of course get third party only which is something we can live with but it would be nice to get something better.

Therefore, has anyone on here had experience of this and do they know a way of persuading underwriters of the wisdom of providing insurance for a Rival 34.

Thanks in advance.
