Aries refurbishment/replacement

Time to update?

Hi all, I’ve taken the Aries Vane gear off Villager as it needs a full refurb. My question is should I do this or replace with a modern competitor? Price will come into it as I’ve been quote 65 Euros an hour plus the cost of the components. I don’t have the engineering tools to unseize the unit which is heavily corroded by salt action. I’m hoping to venture further afield than the Irish Sea in a couple of years and this is part of the preparation process. All advice most gratefully received  Fair Winds. Alistair D. Cook, ‘Villager’.
