going backwards
Been Rival 34 owner for 2 weeks. 'Samphire of Yealm'. Fantastic sailing BUT am presently in a marina with unpredictable tides/ wind etc.. I need to steer with engine in reverse. It seems she is finely balanced on a central spindle and is poised to spin in which ever direction first takes her fancy while taking no notice of any instruction from me. I have a 2 bladed prop. It seems once she has moved a fraction to port or starboard that is the way she will continue. The only expert advice I have so far is to have plenty of crew with fenders at the ready! Any advice would be welcome.
